What a Spanish specialist brings that a generalist cannot
Spanish is the language most people believe is easy, which is exactly why so many learners plateau in it. Every tutor in our network is a fully qualified teacher of Spanish — the selection is about which Spanish, and how they teach it.
They teach a specific Spanish, deliberately
Peninsular and Latin American Spanish differ in pronunciation, vocabulary, and the whole vosotros–ustedes system. Your tutor is chosen for the country you deal with, and tells you clearly where the differences matter.
They fix the two things that stall everyone
Ser against estar, and the preterite against the imperfect. Taught as meaning rather than as rules, because the rule lists are what leave learners guessing five years in.
They make the subjunctive usable
Not a grammar topic to be feared at B2, but the ordinary way Spanish speakers express doubt, wish, opinion and politeness — introduced early and practised in speech.
They train the ear to real speed
Caribbean and Andalusian Spanish drop consonants and run words together. Structured listening across accents is built in, so a phone call from Sevilla or San Juan is not a different language.

In Spanish, the meal ends and the conversation does not.
There is a word for it — sobremesa — and no real English equivalent: the hour or three spent at the table after the plates are cleared, arguing, teasing and telling stories. It is where friendships in Spanish are actually made, and it is entirely closed to people who only have transactional Spanish.
That is what your programme is built towards. Not a syllabus, but the point at which you stop being the guest who is being accommodated and become one of the people at the table.

What the lessons actually look like
The most common question after price. Here is the shape of the thing you are buying.
- An hour a week, or considerably more
- One hour a week is the standard rhythm and the basis of our guide prices. Before a move, a deal or an exam, clients often run two or three, or a short intensive block.
- Online, in person in London, or both
- Most clients learn online with the same tutor throughout. Face-to-face tuition at home or at your office is available across London and is quoted individually.
- Your material, not a course book
- Your contracts, the notary's letter, the WhatsApp voice notes you cannot follow, the syllabus you are sitting. A course book appears only where it earns its place.
- Written up every month
- Your tutor writes a monthly progress report against the objectives agreed at the start, and Maria checks in with you at week six.

- How much do private Spanish lessons cost?
- Private Spanish tuition is bought in hours. Flexi is 4 hours at £75/hr (£300 in total); Discovery 12 hours used within up to 3 months at £71/hr (£855); Momentum 24 hours within up to 6 months at £68/hr (£1,620); Mastery 48 hours within up to 12 months at £64/hr (£3,060). All prices include VAT. Face-to-face lessons in London and intensive programmes are quoted individually.
- How is my Spanish tutor chosen?
- The selection happens before you enquire: every tutor in our network has already been interviewed, referenced and chosen by us. When you come to us, Maria listens to your objective, level, temperament and timetable, then names the specialist inside that network who fits the brief. You meet them on a chemistry call before anything is committed.
- Should I learn Spanish from Spain or Latin American Spanish?
- Whichever one your life is in — the two are entirely mutually intelligible, so this is a question of accent, some vocabulary and the vosotros form rather than of two languages. Tell Maria where you will be using Spanish and she matches you to a specialist from that region. If you use both, we teach one as your base and make you comfortable hearing the other.
- I already speak some Spanish. Will I have to start again?
- No. The first sessions are spent finding out precisely what you have and where it stops, then building from there. Most people who describe their Spanish as 'holiday level' are further along than they think, and the missing pieces are usually past tenses, the subjunctive and listening speed.
- What if my tutor is not right for me?
- We rematch you, at no cost and without any argument. Fit is our responsibility rather than yours, and rematching is a normal part of the service rather than a complaint.
- Do you teach in person in London, or only online?
- Both. Online lessons are available anywhere in the world and are what our guide prices are based on. Face-to-face Spanish lessons are available across London and some surrounding areas, subject to tutor availability. Many clients run a hybrid of the two.
- Can you prepare me for an examination?
- Yes — GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level and IB Spanish, the DELE and SIELE certificates, and the DELE A2 required in the Spanish nationality procedure. Preparation works backwards from the exam date with a tutor who knows the paper.
- Could I learn in a group instead?
- Yes. We run small-group Spanish terms of ten weeks, never more than six people, live in Central London and online from Tuesday to Thursday. Private tuition is faster and entirely your own; groups are more sociable and less expensive. Maria will say honestly which suits your goal.
- How quickly can I start?
- Most clients have a proposed tutor within a few days of the discovery call and a first lesson in the week that follows. A highly specific professional or dialect brief can take a little longer, because we would rather match well than match quickly.
